This will be a voyage of exploration for us all; a new route into the distant northern Aegean
At present we have no definite itinerary: as ever where we go will be determined by the weather and what the options are.
The main decision will be whether to island hop north and eastwards, Panagia has some beautiful anchorages, Efstratios looks interesting, Limnos looks even more interesting, then Samothraki, followed by a swing to the north west to Thassos and then into Kavala. That does look a great route.
The other way to go would take us up the east coast of the Greek mainland and then across towards the three peninsulas and the gulfs between them Lots of interesting possibilities in Kolpos Toroneos and its sister Kolpos Aqiou Orous. This would also take us round the shores of Mount Athos with all its amazing monasteries.
Whichever way we go this promises to be a fascinating voyage.
Again if you are interested in this voyage you will get more out of it if you do a bit of research on the route, the ports we might visit, interesting places ashore, even places to avoid. For instance, did you know women are not allowed to land at Mount Athos! I think GoogleEarth is always a good place to start, charts for the area are fairly inexpensive to download onto a device and the pilot book is well worth a read.
