Athens to Athens, a voyage round the Saronic Gulf
Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 389 Check it out here
This voyage is just an adventure. Where will we go? From Athens to Athens with lots of choices in between.
If we had the right forecast we could even think of sailing down to Crete, although it would be a very long way back into a North wind.
Last year we went Athens to Aegina to Vathi on the Methanon peninsular to Poros to Hydra to Perdika and back to Athens, a wonderful trip to some beautiful places. Vathi is the most perfect little “micro” port whilst car free Hydra was the home of Leonard Cohen for many years. What a great place the Saronic Gulf is!
We decided on that route to do quite short passages leaving crews plenty of time to practice their close quarters boat handling skills. Plenty of “Med” mooring, springing on and off pontoons, picking up moorings and dropping anchors. Happy days.
Hopefully the aspiring skippers will take charge for the day and create a suitable passage plan.
If you are interested in this voyage we would really suggest you do a bit of research on the routes and the ports at which we might stop. Google Earth is a very good place to start. If you are really interested try to get hold of one of the excellent pilot books for the area.
Whatever route we choose we will be sailing past very beautiful islands through “wine blue” waters. Lovely little ports with great tavernas, good food and hopefully a cold beer.
